PA State Inspection
PA STATE INSPECTION
Pennsylvania State Inspection and Emissions Inspection are done by certified technicians at Crawford’s Auto Center.
Pennsylvania requires annual safety inspections. In Chester County, emissions inspections are required for all vehicles with a model year of 1975 or newer. They include gas cap and visual anti-tampering checks.
Schedule your vehicle (auto or light truck) for its annual inspections at Crawford’s Auto Center. Please bring a valid insurance card and registration when dropping off your vehicle. If your registration is expired, bring your card and we can look up your current registration.

As required by Pennsylvania, Crawford’s displays safety and emissions inspection rates. Be aware that fees are market driven and vary from station to station. Also note, these rates do not include required repairs or replacement of tires to enable the vehicle to pass inspection.
Pennsylvania doesn’t offer much official information on what its inspection requirements are because they vary from county to county. However, they do use On-Board Diagnostic (OBD) systems. The Crawford’s technician will be pulling data from your automobile’s computer to help determine if it’s roadworthy.
According to VEHQ.com, “a check engine light that stays on or a monitor in the OBD system that shows ‘not ready’ (has a malfunction) is cause for failure. Fixing these issues can mean replacing sensors.” Your Crawford’s technician will determine if new equipment needs to be ordered.
